Committee of Selection: First Report.

Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach (Mr. V. Brady)

The Committee of Selection reports that it has nominated the following Members to serve on the Committee on Procedure and Privileges: David Andrews, Monica Barnes, Vincent Brady, John Bruton, Donal Carey, Peadar Clohessy, Jim Higgins, Colm Hilliard, Brendan Howlin, Liam Lawlor, Pat McCartan, Fergus O'Brien, Martin Joe O'Toole, Nora Owen, Seán Power, Dick Roche and John Stafford; and that it has nominated the following Members to serve on the Committee of Public Accounts on the Appropriation Accounts for the year ended 31 December 1987: Michael Ahern, Bernard Allen, John Connor, Séamus Cullimore, John Dennehy, Chris Flood, Michael P. Kitt, Charlie McCreevy, Brendan McGahon, Gay Mitchell, Pat Rabbitte and Mervyn Taylor.

I have a small point of elucidation. In the English text of the report it is stated that Members have been nominated to serve on the Committee of Public Accounts on the Appropriation Accounts for the year ended 31 December 1987, whereas in the Irish version it refers to "don bhliain dar chríoch 31 Nollaig 1989". To which year does it refer?

The Deputy will appreciate that in order to facilitate some Members of the House we rushed this announcement.

The year should be 1989.

There has been a slip of the tongue there; the year should be 1987.

Perhaps 1987 is the correct year.
