New legislation on competition will be introduced following the receipt of the report of the Fair Trade Commission of its study on incorporation of Articles 85 and 86 of the Treaty of Rome into domestic Irish legislation. Due to the workload of the commission it is not possible to state when the study is likely to be completed. In the meantime, however, preparatory work in connection with the proposal is proceeding.
