Vol. 392 No. 2

Written Answers. - Development of Howth (Dublin) Harbour.

28.

asked the Minister for the Marine if he will outline his proposals for the future development of Howth Harbour, Dublin 13, in particular, the development of onshore employment; if he will agree to meet the Howth Fishermen's Association at an early date to discuss his proposals; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In recent years over £11 million has been injected into the development of Howth Harbour and it can now be considered to have reached an advanced stage of development. Ongoing maintenance work will, of course, continue.

In the context of generating employment at Howth my Department will soon be making available a number of sites for the development of fishery related projects adjacent to the West Pier, Howth. I will, of course, consult with the Howth Fishermen's Association when further development proposals for the harbour have been formulated.
