Vol. 392 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin 15 Crime Levels.

65.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the level of crime in the Clonsilla area of Dublin 15 is increasing, particularly in Lambourne; that there is strong feeling in the area that the level of policing is inadequate; the plans he has to increase the number of Garda patrols or to take other measures; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The detailed policing arrangements for individual areas are a matter for the Garda authorities, who inform me that there has been no increase recently in the level of reported crime in the Clonsilla area generally or in Lambourne in particular. I am also informed that the Lambourne locality is patrolled by both uniformed and plain clothes patrols operating from Blanchardstown station to a degree that the Garda authorities consider adequate, having regard to other policing commitments in the district as a whole. The Garda authorities will continue to keep the policing arrangements for the areas in question under review.
