Vol. 392 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water Supply Schemes.

68.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will be in a position to notify Cork County Council of his Department's approval of stages 2 and 3 of Skibbereen water supply improvement scheme, as this extension is vital towards maintaining a water supply to the Schull, Ballydehob, Kilcoe and Lisheen areas which have experienced grave water shortage and water rationing problems during the past few months.

Contract documents for stage 2 of the Skibbereen water supply improvement scheme are under consideration in my Department. It is a matter for the council to prepare and submit to my Department contract documents for stage 3 of the scheme. Having regard to the capital available in the current year for the sanitary services programme and the existing level of commitments it is not possible to indicate when the necessary funds will be available for this scheme.
