Vol. 392 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Regional Hospital.

78.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Cork Regional Hospital has employed Stubbs Gazette as a collection agency for hospital charges; if he approves of this practice; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that health agencies avail of debt collection services when all other measures to recover charges properly due to them have failed. I should say that if people who can afford to pay do not pay reasonable charges imposed upon them obviously they are diminishing the health agencies possibility of meeting the many demands upon them for needed health services.
