Vol. 392 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pension Payments.

88.

asked the Minister for Education when pension payments for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who is a retired national school teacher will be paid; and if she will ensure that payments are issued without delay.

Pensions to former national school teachers are paid by the office of the Paymaster General on behalf of the Department of Education.

The person in question retired from the national school teaching service on 31 August 1989 and was awarded a pension and lump sum with effect from 1 September, 1989.

Particulars of the award were conveyed to the pensioner and to the office of the Paymaster General by my Department on 19 September, 1989.

Pensions are normally payable monthly in arrears. I am informed by the office of the Paymaster General that the pensioner has completed the necessary declaration form and that the payment of pension in respect of September and October will be made at the end of October.
