asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the refusal of a farm installation grant and other grants in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who has attended the 100 hours winter farm training course; the means by which this person can meet the criteria laid down for qualification of farm installation grants; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
There is no record of an application from the person mentioned under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers. To be eligible for this aid an applicant must satisfy a number of conditions laid down by the European Community one of which is that he attains the minimum educational qualifications within two years of installation.
An application from the person mentioned for grant aid under the scheme for the control of farmyard pollution is at present being processed and the approval will issue shortly. The applicant cannot be considered for the young farmer additional aid available under the scheme as he had not attained the minimum education standard required at the date of application for participation in the scheme.
