Vol. 392 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tullamore (Offaly) Leisure Centre.

133.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received any submissions from Tullamore Indoor Swimming Pool Committee for the purposes of providing a water sports leisure centre at Tullamore, County Offaly; and, if in view of the importance of providing additional tourist amenities in the Midlands, if he will outline the support and assistance his Department will provide to this committee.

I have received representations on behalf of the committee seeking grant assistance from EEC Structural Funds towards the provision of an indoor heated swimming pool at Tullamore. In my reply to the representations, I explained that the operational programmes being prepared by my Department for Structural Fund assistance do not include such projects. A copy of the representations was sent to the Department of Tourism and Transport.

No other submission relating to the provision of a water sports leisure centre in Tullamore has been received from the committee.
