Vol. 392 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Kildare Schools.

173.

asked the Minister for Education the present position with regard to the provision of extra facilities at Scoil Uí Dhálaigh, Leixlip, County Kildare; if she has agreed on the full extent of facilities needed and the costs involved; whether she will provide for the improvements required in the context of the 1990 Estimates; if site works are likely to start on the project; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

As I indicated in my reply to a parliamentary question from the Deputy on 9 May 1989 I have approved an eight classroom extension and some ancillary accommodation at Scoil Uí Dhálaigh, Leixlip, County Kildare. Following approval of the sketch plan and cost plan submitted by the school's consultants, my Department authorised the preparation of working drawings for the project in August 1989. My Department await submission of these documents.

I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when building works will commence.

asked the Minister for Education, having regard to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 363 of 24 October 1989, whether she intends to make provision in the 1990 Estimates for the extended facilities required at St. Wolstan's Post Primary School, Dublin Road, Celbridge, County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

No specific provision is made for individual capital projects in my Department's Estimates: such provision is made on a global basis. As I informed the Deputy, I have recently decided to advance the architectural planning of the extension to St. Wolstan's and financing for that purpose will be provided in 1990.
