Vol. 392 No. 7

Written Answers. - Rosegreen (Tipperary) National School.

192.

asked the Minister for Education, having regard to Rose-green national school, County Tipperary, the reason the academic year is to be shortened to facilitate school transport arrangements.

National schools are required to be in operation for a minimum of 184 days in the school year. There is no question of the school year being shortened to facilitate school transport arrangements.

Schools are, however, required to co-ordinate openings and closures at holdiay times so as to avoid unnecessary expenditure on the provision of additional transport services.
