Vol. 392 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Clare National Schools.

196.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that following the closure of Lack national school and Lisheen national school, County Clare, her Department made a commitment to the board of Ballynacally national school, County Clare in 1976, that they would erect four new classrooms, a general purpose room and appropriate facilities; if she will give special consideration to this school since this is a disadvantaged area; and if she will give assent to the plans drawn up in 1976 having regard to the fact that officials of her Department and the Mid-Western Health Board have reported repeatedly on these difficulties.

I am aware of the situation in relation to Ballynacally national school, County Clare and I have recently approved the provision of a permanent extension of two classrooms. My Department's architects will now put the planning for the project in hands which will be completed at the earliest possible date.

The provision of an extension of four classrooms referred to by the Deputy would not be warranted in present circumstances.
