asked the Minister for Defence the cost for 1988 of providing weapons for the armed forces; the cost for 1988 of providing Border security through the armed forces; the cost in wages and salaries for the armed forces; the cost for 1988 in miscellaneous expenditure such as providing vehicles for the armed forces; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The table hereunder sets out the estimated expenditure on the Defence Forces incurred in 1988 under the headings indicated:
