Vol. 392 No. 7

Written Answers. - Decentralisation of Government Departments.

70.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has any plans to decentralise any Government Department to Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no plans at present to decentralise any Government Department to Cork. The Government decided that the most practical and effective way of proceeding with decentralisation was to confine the programme to the centres selected in 1980 and where a certain amount of preliminary planning had already been completed. Future policy will be settled in the light of experience of decentralisation to the centres already selected.
