Vol. 392 No. 7

Written Answers. - National Museum.

82.

asked the Minister for Finance if adequate funding will be made available to alleviate the serious crisis which has arisen in the National Museum for maintenance of this historic building; if this matter will be covered in next year's Estimates; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my joint reply to Questions Nos. 27 and 52 on 24 October 1989 which comprehensively lists the restoration and improvement works currently being undertaken at the National Museum.

Routine maintenance works are undertaken either by the Office of Public Works by means of a directly employed labour force or by the Department of the Taoiseach which funds contractual maintenance works. The necessary provision for ongoing maintenance works at the National Museum has been made in the Estimates.
