Vol. 392 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Aid for Student.

113.

asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork who is a first year student at the Limerick College of Art, Commerce and Technology is not grant aided by her Department; and if it is her intention to grant aid this course in 1990.

The student mentioned is, I understand, pursuing a full-time BSc course in economic science validated by London University. It is understood that this full-time course commenced in 1989 and has not, as yet, been submitted to the Department by the VEC for approval. In the absence of such approval the question of grant aid for students pursuing the course does not arise. I also understand that the student in question obtained a place on the marketing course, which is grant aided, but subsequently switched to the BSc course in economic science.
