asked the Minister for Finance (a) the take-up to date of funding from Phase II of the Special Border Areas Programme and (b) the projects funded for each Border county.

The Special Border Areas Programme (SBAP) Phase II provides ERDF aid for energy and tourism measures. These measures are funded under the programme as follows:

Payment received to date from the ERDF, in respect of 1986, 1987 and 1988, amount to £10.914 million.

As regards the projects funded in each county, the following lists cover tourism measures that were agreed for implementation under the programme. Work on gas-related measures in County Louth is also funded. The precise allocation of the amount reserved for the westward extension of the gas pipeline has yet to be determined.
