Vol. 393 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Community Association Funding.

178.

asked the Minister for the Environment the moneys which were paid from the national lottery to the developers/owners of a neighbourhood shopping centre (details supplied) in Dublin 5; the reason for this allocation; and if he is satisfied that work has been carried out to the required standard.

No payments were made to the developers or owners of this shopping centre. A grant of £20,000 under the amenity grants scheme financed from national lottery surplus funds was paid to the local community association in respect of works to a community hall. These works were, I understand, carried out on foot of an agreement between the community association and the developers of the shopping centre.

Payments under the amenity grants scheme are made on foot of a certificate from the local authority that the appropriate expenditure has been properly incurred in accordance with the conditions of the scheme. This certificate was given in the present instance.
