Vol. 393 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Kerry Local Authority Works.

182.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide the necessary finance for (a) the provision of a sewerage scheme for Dirha Cottages, Listowel, County Kerry and (b) the completion of road widening and the provision of a footpath from Listowel to the Dirha Cottages.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments and the capital funds available, I cannot indicate when funds will be available for the proposed sewerage scheme.

In 1989, a special grant of £36,000 was allocated to the local authority for the purpose of shaping, grading and installing a footpath along the stretch of road between Dirha Cottages and Listowel. Work on the scheme started in June of this year and to date some £56,000 has been expended on same. While some 1,300 yards of the road remain to be completed, pending the determination of road grant allocations for 1990 I am not in a position to indicate the level of funds that will be available next year for this project.
