Vol. 393 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Hospital Legal Costs.

244.

asked the Minister for Health if he is to pay the legal costs of the recent proceedings in the courts in the case of the consultant neurosurgeon (details supplied) dismissed by Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9 in March 1989; and the amount of these costs.

248.

asked the Minister for Health if his Department will pay the legal costs and the other costs involved in holding the recent quasi-judicial inquiry into the probationary year of the consultant neurosurgeon (details supplied) at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9 in August 1989.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 244 and 248 together.

The final cost figures of the court proceedings and Beaumont's portion of the legal costs of the quasi-judicial inquiry have not yet been determined. Such costs as fall to be borne by the hospital will be recouped by my Department.
