asked the Minister for Education the action taken on the recommendation of the Pupil Transfer Committee that a transfer adviser be appointed in every post-primary school.

The functions envisaged for advisers are discharged by year heads, tutors, staff engaged in pastoral care, career guidance teachers and, in some instances, holders of posts of responsibility.

357.

asked the Minister for Education the action taken on the recommendations of the Pupil Transfer Committee in respect of: (a) an in-service seminar for teachers involved with transfer problems and (b) inclusion of pupil transfer problems in teacher training syllabi.

The report of the Pupil Transfer Committee was submitted in May 1981 to the then Minister for Education. Following its publication, arrangements were made for account to be taken of relevant recommendations in the provision of pre-service and in-service training of teachers.
