Vol. 393 No. 1

Written Answers. - Midleton (Cork) Sewerage Scheme.

35.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the building of a treatment plant for Midleton sewerage scheme at East Ferry, Midleton, County Cork.

The Midleton sewerage scheme was approved on the basis that, should monitoring of the receiving waters at Rathcoursey Point indicate significant deterioration in water quality, the council would develop proposals for the provision of secondary treatment facilities as a matter of urgency. I am advised that the monitoring results since the scheme became operational indicate that no such deterioration has occurred.
