Vol. 393 No. 1

Written Answers. - Relocation of Department's Offices.

69.

asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has regarding the relocation of each of his Department's various offices at present located in Dublin; whether it is planned to centralise these offices at one location; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department are at present allocated office space in four separate buildings in Dublin. It will shortly be vacating two of these arising from the decentralisation of driver testing and local administration (superannuation) sections to Ballina and in subsequent general rationalisation arrangements. The allocation of office space in the remaining buildings — Custom House and O'Connell Bridge House — would not permit amalgamation into either as a centralised office.

As the Deputy is aware the provision of accommodation is a matter for the Minister for Finance. There are no proposals at present to provide further accommodation for the Department.
