Vol. 393 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

106.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will expedite the investigation into the case of a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who has been awaiting a rebate of income tax due to him as a consequence of voluntary redundancy; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the final details required by the inspector of taxes to enable the taxpayer's tax affairs to be brought up-to-date were forwarded by his former employer on 23 October 1989. Reviews of his tax liabilities for the years 1983-84 to 1988-89, incorporating relief in respect of a lump sum received by him when he retired in December 1988, have now been carried out and an overpayment of £201.75 arose. A cheque in settlement was issued to him on 9 November 1989.
