A proposal for a financial contribution towards expenditure incurred by member states for the purpose of surveillance of fishery resources is under consideration at present by the EC. The question of the necessity to provide suitable patrol aircraft for the Air Corps to facilitate maritime surveillance of fishery resources will be examined in the light of any scheme agreed by the EC. My Department have no plans to replace other aircraft or helicopters.
