Subhead J — Mechanical Transport — of the Vote for Defence (No. 37) provides for an expenditure of £5 million in 1990. The proposed expenditure is comprised of £3 million approximately for the capital purchase of military vehicles and £2 million approximately for the maintenance of military vehicles. The increased provision in 1990 is to provide for the purchase of new vehicles as replacements for obsolete vehicles.
