Vol. 393 No. 8

Written Answers. - Seville Place (Dublin) Bridge.

160.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide money to repair effectively the bridge on Seville Place, North Strand, Dublin 3, which was damaged three months ago and which has not been repaired to date, having regard to the fact that the bridge is causing major traffic problems for the residents of the inner city, especially on Clonliffe Road.

My Department do not allocate specific grants for maintenance works on non-national roads such as Seville Place.

The cost of maintenance works to a railway bridge would, in so far as the local authority may be responsible, fall to be financed by the local authority from its own resources. The authority may, at their discretion, use the block grant for roads paid annually by the Department to supplement expenditure from the authority's own resources on such works.

Last week, a block grant of £2.654 million was allocated to Dublin Corporation for 1990.
