Vol. 394 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

68.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food whether a person (details supplied) in County Cork has been approved for a farm grant; and, if so, when payment will issue.

Delays in payment of grants have occurred recently through a combination of factors such as staff shortages and the disruption of work occasioned by the recent transfer of the Department's accounts branch to Cavan. In addition the funds available for reactor grant payments are nearly exhausted and a Supplementary Estimate was brought before the House yesterday to relieve the situation.

Payment of the reactor grant to the person named in the question will be made as soon as possible.

As regards headage payments, the cattle file of the person named is with field staff at present in connection with the inspection of his herd and if his applications are found to be in order after inspection he will be paid his 1989 EC Suckler Cow, EC Special Beef Premium and Calf Premium schemes grants in due course.

69.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when installation aid will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

I expect that it will be possible to determine this application shortly. If the applicant is found to be eligible, payment will be made as soon as possible.
