Vol. 394 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ore Reserves.

28.

asked the Minister for Energy the total estimated ore reserves in the Tara ore body at Navan, County Meath; its projected life expectancy; the estimated reserves in the Bula ore body; the steps which are being taken to have it developed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On the basis of information provided by the companies concerned the total estimated ore reserves of Tara Mines Limited and Bula Limited are about 48 million tonnes and 13 million tonnes respectively.

On the basis of present production levels the Tara mine has a life expectancy of about 19 years.

At this juncture I have taken such steps as it is practicable for me to take to secure the development of the Bula orebody.
