Vol. 394 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disability Benefit Claim Hearing.

139.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if an oral hearing of a disability benefit claim will be arranged as a matter of urgency for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24, in view of the financial position of the person concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A decision on the claim to disability benefit by the person concerned was withheld pending an examination by a medical referee as she had been found capable of work less than 3 months earlier by a medical referee who examined her in connection with her previous claim.

She was examined by a different medical referee on 10 November 1989, and was again considered capable of work. As a result her claim to disability benefit was not allowed.

The person concerned appealed against this decision and arrangements have been made for a further examination by another medical referee on 15 December 1989.

Her entitlement to payment of disability benefit will be reviewed in the light of this examination.
