Vol. 394 No. 4

Written Answers. - Self-Employed Social Insurance Contributions.

167.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total amount of revenue received by his Department in respect of social insurance contributions from the self-employed for the years 1988 and 1989.

Receipts in 1988 from social insurance contributions from the self-employed amounted to £22.1 million.

Provisional figures for 1989 will not be available until mid-January next. The estimated receipts for 1989 is £39 million. Up to end-October about £25 million has been received. As a significant part of the receipts are in the final two months of the year it is expected that the 1989 estimate will be achieved and possibly exceeded.
