asked the Minister for the Environment the number of dwellings in the country which do not have a domestic water supply.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of dwellings in the country which do not have indoor toilet facilities.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 218 and 219 together.

The latest figures available are from the 1981 Census of Population; at that stage there were 45,023 houses without a piped water supply and 136,025 houses without an indoor toilet.
