Vol. 394 No. 4

Written Answers. - Maternity Homes Licence Application.

233.

asked the Minister for Health the present position in relation to an application for a licence by St. Frances' Medical Centre, Mullingar, County Westmeath under the Maternity Homes Act; if such a licence will be granted; if so, when; if not, the reason; and if he is satisfied that this application is being processed at a reasonable price.

The St. Frances' Medical Centre has not applied to me for a licence but for exemption from the requirement, under section 4 of the Registration of Maternity Homes Act, 1934, to register with the local health board. I have recently received some additional information from the Centre in relation to the application and this is being examined at present. I will write to the Deputy in due course in relation to progress on dealing with the matter.
