Vol. 394 No. 4

Written Answers. - Regulations for Use of Jet-Skis.

101.

asked the Minister for the Marine if there are any regulations covering the use of jet-skis; and, if not, if he will prepare regulations as a matter of urgency as they are a danger to yachts and wind-surfers using our waterways and lakes.

I have no function in relation to the regulation of jet-skis.

I understand, however, that local authorities may make by-laws regulating the activities of crafts such as jet-skis operating on lakes and waterways which come within their functional areas of responsibility.

In addition the Office of Public Works operate a licensing system regulating the use of engine-powered craft on the lakes of Killarney. Killarney National Park staff monitor such activity on the lakes.
