Vol. 394 No. 5

Written Answers. - Orthopaedic Surgeon.

128.

asked the Minister for Health if it is intended to appoint an extra orthopaedic surgeon in the Southern Health Board area.

At present there are six full time orthopaedic surgeons in the Southern Health Board area. The appointment of an additional consultant orthopaedic surgeon is primarily a matter for the Southern Health Board which must have regard to competing priorities and the resources at its disposal in reaching a decision on this matter.
