Vol. 394 No. 5

Written Answers. - Alleviation of Hardship.

79.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the situation facing some milk producers where production has now exceeded the quota; to the fact that such producers will be without income until the end of the first quarter of 1990; if he will suggest any means wherby the hardship of such producers may be alleviated; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The liability, if any, for super-levy will be determined by the overall level of milk production at the end of the quota year. The relevant Community regulations provide that milk purchasers, co-operatives and dairies, must recover any super-levy due through the price paid to the producers for the period concerned. There is no provision for any exception to this.
