Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - US Death Sentence Appeal.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

114 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the representations he has already made to the United States authorities concerning the case of a person (details supplied) who is on death row awaiting execution in Virginia; and if he will make a special appeal for clemency to the United States, in view of the unsuccessful outcome of the person's recent appeal for a retrial.

There are still legal avenues of appeal open to the person in question and time available in which to use them. No representations have been made by me to the US authorities concerning his case.
