Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ordnance Survey Office.

Michael Noonan

Question:

157 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Finance the reason he considers it necessary to relocate 40 field officers at present working in various parts of the country to the Ordnance Survey Head Office at the Phoenix Park, Dublin 8; the arrangements he is making to minimise the inconvenience to these staff members and their families; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A number of officials are being transferred from field work to the headquarters of the Ordnance Survey, Phoenix Park, Dublin, to cope with a reorganisation of the mapping programme, with special emphasis on the production of 1:50,000 maps for tourist purposes. The transfers are being arranged on a gradual basis and in close consultation with the officials concerned.
