Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Naas (County Kildare) Garda Station.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

161 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the use to which it is intended to put the old Garda station, Naas, County Kildare; if same has been disposed of by tender; the price involved; whether any stipulations regarding the retention of the facade of the existing structure were incorporated in the tender; if any stipulations regarding the future use of the building have been made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A tender for the former Garda station at Naas, County Kildare has been accepted by the Commissioners of Public Works. The legal formalities in connection with completion of the sale are being dealt with by the purchaser's solicitor and the Chief State Solicitor. No stipulation was made in regard to retention of the facade of the existing structure or the future use of the building, which matters will fall to the purchaser, subject to the provisions of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, but tenders were advised that the premises are included in the list of buildings for preservation in the Naas UDC Draft Development Plan. It is not the practice to divulge tendered prices.
