Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Circuit Court Officers.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

298 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Justice the criteria used in the grading of Circuit Court officers; the basis for the staffing grades in the various grades of Circuit Court officers; if he considers the present situation fair and equitable; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The grading of staff in Circuit Court offices is related to the nature of the duties performed and is in accordance with agreements reached through negotiations under the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for the Civil Service. A claim for the upgrading of certain posts in a number of Circuit Court offices is currently the subject of discussion under that scheme and in the circumstances I do not propose to comment further on the matter.
