Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Garda Complaints Board.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

302 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice when the Garda Síochána Complaints Board will respond to the complaint of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 which was lodged on 1 November, 1988 and to which only an acknowledgment has been received to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda Síochána Complaints Board was established under the Garda Síochána (Complaints) Act, 1986 as an independent statutory body to investigate and adjudicate on complaints made by the public against members of the Garda Síochána. I have no function in relation to the consideration by the board of any individual complaint and it would, therefore, be inappropriate for me to comment on the matter raised in the question.
