Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Drishane (Cork) School.

Michael Creed

Question:

401 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the proposed closure of Drishane Convent Post-Primary School, County Cork; if she will take steps to prevent the closure; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The management of the school in question informed my Department in December last of their decision to close the school with effect from June, 1992 because of lack of demand for places there.

The school is a private secondary boarding school run by a religious order of nuns. Any decision in relation to the future of such school, including a decision to close, is essentially a matter for the management authorities of the school.
