Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Naas (Kildare) School Extension.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

452 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the required extension to Meánscoil Iognáid Rís, Naas, County Kildare; the extent of extra facilities required having regard to on-going enrolments; whether she intends to sanction the project for final approval and start of site works in the current year; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Architectural planning of the proposed extension to the school in question, which will provide for additional accommodation as follows, is proceeding:

2 General classrooms

1 science laboratory and prep/ resource area

1 Woodwork/Building Construction room

1 Social Studies room

1 Mechanical Drawing Room

PE Hall and ancillary

Toilets/cloaks/lockers.

The rate of progress of this and other such projects is dependent on the availability of capital resources, and on my Department's other commitments and priorities. I am not in a position to confirm at this time, therefore, when work on site will commence.
