Written Answers. - Care of the Elderly.

Question:

53 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health the specific recommendations in the report on the care for the elderly he will be implementing; and if he will implement them during the course of 1990 in order to honour the recent Government commitment to make care for the elderly a priority in 1990.

The following recommendations of the report of the Working Party on Services for the Elderly, The Years Ahead — A Policy for the Elderly, have been implemented:— 3.28, 4.15(a), 4.20, 12.27 and the following recommendations are in the process of implementation:— 3.14, 3.17, 4.21, 5.5, 5.39, 6.4, 6.11, 6.21, 7.6, 7.20, 7.28, 7.29, 8.26, 8.33, 8.34, 8.40, 9.14, 9.32, 9.38, 9.41, 9.44, 9.48(b), 11.17, 12.6, 12.21, 12.24, 12.32.

In addition, during 1990 I will be implementing recommendations 6.30 and 6.46 concerning the strengthening of home nursing and home help services for the elderly.
