Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Health Board Temporary Staffs.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

58 Mr. Clohessy asked the minister for Health the number of temporary staff employed in each of the following regional health boards: (a) the Eastern Health Board, (b) the Southern Health Board, (c) the Midland Health Board, (d) the Mid-Western Health Board, (e) the North-Eastern Health Board, (f) the North-Western Health Board, (g) the South-Eastern Health Board and (h) the Western Health Board.

My Department's estimate of the number of wholetime equivalent temporary staff employed in health boards is as follows:

Eastern Health Board

1,400

Southern Health Board

1,000

Midland Health Board

325

Mid-Western Health Board

525

North-Eastern Health Board

260

North-Western Health Board

560

South-Eastern Health Board

440

Western Health Board

430

The annual health services personnel census is currently taking place and definitive figures will shortly be available.
I might add that the personnel policy for 1990 recently notified to health agencies will have the effect of further reducing temporary staffing levels.
