Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Castlebar General Hospital.

Enda Kenny

Question:

81 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health if he has received a request from the Western Health Board to meet with a deputation composed of the chief executive officer and the official chairman with regard to provision of funding for phase II of the Castlebar General Hospital, County Mayo; if he will outline his intentions in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to meet with the chairman and the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to discuss a timetable for the next stage of the major development at Castlebar General Hospital having regard to the limitations or the availability of capital funds.

The first phase of this development has now been completed at a capital cost of over £10 million and an additional sum of over £1 million has been included in the Western Health Board revenue allocation to allow for its commissioning.
