Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Marsh's Library, Dublin.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

3 Mr. Quinn asked the Taoiseach if his attention has been drawn to the unique collection contained in Archbishop Marsh's Library in St. Patrick's Close, Dublin 8 and the enormous cultural asset which it represents to Dublin city; if he will ensure that funds will be made available for the library from his Department as the present grant-in-aid of £6,000 per annum is totally inadequate; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am fully aware of the cultural value of Marsh's Library and I have already informed Marsh's Library that I have made arrangements for the National Library to commission conservation work from the library to an amount of £20,000 annually. This represents a substantial new assured income for the library.
