Vol. 395 No. 7

Written Answers. - Meath Teagasc Office.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

75 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reasons he has refused to allow Teagasc to spend moneys which accrued from the sale of their office in Trim, County Meath on similar accommodation for the staff who have been transferred to Grange, County Meath; if he will make a decision in this regard; the reason it has taken 14 months to decide on this issue, having regard to the fact that such moneys did not belong to his Department originally; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the legislation, Teagasc may not dispose of the proceeds of the sale of assets without my consent and the consent of the Minister for Finance.

I am waiting Teagasc's detailed proposals in relation to the provision of new offices for the Trim staff at Grange.

In the meantime I understand that reasonable temporary accommodation is being provided at Grange for the staff concerned.
