Vol. 395 No. 7

Written Answers. - Registration of Property.

James Leonard

Question:

92 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Justice if he will request the Chief State Solicitor's Office to make a decision allowing Monaghan County Council to proceed with obtaining registration of a property (details supplied) which is the subject of negotiation over the last 15 years.

In so far as the Land Registry is concerned, I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that an application for first registration of the property in question was lodged in the Land Registry on 29 May 1982. It was a particularly complex case involving detailed examination of title in the Land Registry resulting in protracted correspondence with the solicitors for the applicants. In accordance with Rule 215 of the Land Registration Rules, 1972, the application was treated as abandoned on 23 November 1987 and the documents were returned to the applicant's solicitor.

I have no function in relation to matters of this nature being dealt with by the Chief State Solicitor's Office. However, I have been informed by the Chief State Solicitor that if Deputy Leonard contacts that office he will be informed of the position.
