Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas.

Michael Noonan

Question:

137 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a reply will issue to a letter submitted to him by Deputy Michael Noonan (Limerick East) on 11 October, 1989 in connection with an application for the extension of disadvantaged areas on behalf of a committee (details supplied) in County Limerick; and the reason for the delay in replying to same.

Michael Finucane

Question:

140 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if areas (details supplied) in County Limerick have been surveyed for the disadvantaged areas extension scheme; and if they have been included in the submission to the EC.

I propose taking Questions Nos. 137 and 140 together.

The areas and district electoral divisions of County Limerick mentioned in the questions have been included in the recent survey of disadvantaged areas. No representations have been made to me by Deputy Noonan in regard to the area in question. Neither does my Department seem to have received the letter referred to by Deputy Noonan but if the Deputy forwards a copy, a reply can then issue to him.
I cannot disclose whether the areas mentioned are being included in the submission to Government and the EC as it has not been the practice to do so pending the publication by the EC of the successful areas in a Council Regulation.
